Free Fast Food Day

May 15, 2008

Should’ve posted this sooner but you can get a free small iced coffee at DD today. Go get one! Now, hurry!

You can also get a free southern style chicken sandwich free at McDonald’s today. I confess, I had one! I got a sandwich, side salad, small fry and drink for under 4 bucks! And I even checked the nutritional info for the whole meal (since I do that now) and it was less than a full sized sandwich at Panera, so go get a cheap dinner and don’t feel guilty! This promotion ends at 7pm I think, so hurry out and eat for free.

Waves of Grace

April 16, 2008

I’ve heard this phrase alot and didn’t really ever know what it meant. I mean, I knew what it meant textbook-wise; I could break down the words and their meaning for you. But only recently have I been seeing it played out.

Our friends Seth and Pam, whose loss still has my heart mourning and my head spinning, posted on their blog this week. Reading what Seth wrote made the concept a little more concrete for me. One of the many definitions of grace is “the influence or spirit of God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them.” In that case, God has been showering Seth and Pam with a huge wave of his much needed grace. Please pray that he will continue to do so.

“Only you can see the good in broken things. You took my heart of stone, and you made it whole, and set this prisoner free.” Bethany Dillon

Weekend in review

March 10, 2008

Whirlwind:

  • I love New York! This was a much better experience in the Big Apple than I’ve had in a while. Probably because I was with someone who lives there and we knew what the heck we were doing and where we were going. Also probably because it was mostly free. (Thanks Mom!)
  • When I got to Grand Central Station Friday night my only job was to take a cab to the hotel. It was pouring, I had all my luggage and no umbrella. There were no cabs to be found. I walked the whole way and thanks to the kindness of strangers I made it…eventually…soaking wet.
  • Wicked was amazing. Clever, funny, and extremely well done.
  • I almost blew away on the streets of NY walking home from the theater. Literally.
  • Got a $30 Mani-Pedi at Caroline’s little nail salon (where all her best friends are). Why I don’t pamper myself more with these things is beyond me. It was the best $30 my mom spent all weekend :)
  • Until last night I had never had a migraine before. I think I had one. It sucked. I wanted to die. And throw up. I think I still have remnants of it today - sucks.
  • I think I could live in New York for a little while - IF there was no such thing as winter.

Bored

January 18, 2008

I have been sitting in this Dr’s office for 45 minutes. Lucky for me, I’m picking up some sort of wireless signal in here. I have learned that some offices just truly don’t care how long you wait, or whether you get to see the Dr. at all for that matter. Whereas others are apologetic if they make you wait more than 5 minutes. To be fair, these offices are ridiculously busy, and I’m sure they are about us excited to see me walk through the door as I am excited to be sitting here… spending a large portion of my morning doing very, very little.

Breaking the Silence

November 9, 2007

So Libby has seemed to abandon the Blogging World but I promise she will be back. This blog will be used for her musings, family stuff, and of course pics of Posh…Halloween Pics are coming soon, I promise. I have started my own blog…you can check it out at www.brianhowe.wordpress.com if you so desire. It will contain my thoughts on life, church, and more then likely sports. Thanks for sticking with us through the silence…

Ketch-up

September 20, 2007

Have you ever had somebody build something up in your mind and you were so excited that you couldn’t wait-and then that something turned out to be something totally different then the something you were thinking it would be? When I was in the 4th Grade my teacher Mr.Smith pulled a stunt like that. He infused excitement into us feeble minded children by telling us one morning that after lunch we would be playing a game called Ketchup. We were very excited…the possibilities were endless. However the excitement came to a screeching halt when we realized that Ketchup was not a game, it was in fact a way to get us to Catch Up on all the work we were behind on.

All that to say…this is me catching up on the past few weeks of missed blogging while my wife has been away…

* Went to Fenway last week…My good friend Steve Cuthbert hooked me up with tix for my bday,Big Papi hit a walk off home run to beat the Devil Rays…the ball landed a few rows away from us. Unbelievable to be at that game. The energy was amazing. Prayn the Sox hold on to win the divison.

* Just two more days till our lil one comes home!! We got her a crate, a collar(pink with diamond studs) and a pink leash. Cant wait!!

* I have been a reading machine lately…no wife=lots of spare time! Thanks to Ed Weidman for hookin me up with “The art of dealing with people” and “The Greatest Salesman in the World” - loved and recommend both.

* Ate lobsters right off the boat from the waters of Maine with Jason and Kristy for dinner on Monday night!! First time disecting one myself…SO GOOD!! Thanks for hookin a hurtn bachelor up!

*This weekend we celebrate our 5th anniversary at NorthwayChurch.tv - Unbelievable ride…can’t believe its beeen 5 years since we started chasing this crazy dream. Excited about what will go down in the next 5 years.

*Cannot wait for Libby to come home tomorrow!! I have the best wife ever and time away has done nothing but cement those feelings!!

Now I am caught up and hopefully you don’t feel to much I like I did after hearing what Ketch-up really was…

To name a puppy

September 15, 2007

I have been asking for suggestions from everyone and anyone for this puppy’s name. I decided to ask some young children, since things are so much cuter when they say them. My neices suggested Smooshy and Ladybug. Emily Clem is dead set on the name Heaven. I have also gotten the following suggestions:

  • Punky (from my sister)
  • Rock (from my neice)
  • and my favorite: Libby Auntie (from my other niece)

Please help!

Day 2 (again)

September 11, 2007

Things I am learning while my wife is away at training…

So Lib actually made it home this past weekend and we enjoyed some time shopping and hanging out. I am very proud of her…she is tearing it up at her training-surprised? I think not. Unfortunately she had to go back on Sunday night thus making today Day 2 without my wife all over again.

Today I had…received…endured…a root canal. For the last week as I shared this information I was flooded with stories that brought a calmness to me and then there were stories that kept me up at night. Besides a little soreness in my jaw I am good to go. Today I learned that Root Canals aren’t that bad…I mean don’t get me wrong I would never have one just for the fun of it…but it wasn’t horrible.

Tomorrow I go to Fenway Park to cheer on the Red Sox! I will blog from Boston about all the things I have learned at a Sox game while my wife is away! Can’t wait!
